Expensive genes

This Tibetan mastiff valued at 1.6million yuan ($234,330) was welcomed by a fleet of 28 limos in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province when it arrived from Henan Province on November 16. The purebred pricey pooch is 75 centimeters high, weighs 60 kilograms and will be used as a stud dog for the Tibetan Mastiff Breeding Center founded by Zhang Liangxian in Nanjing.

"I held a reception ceremony for the dog because it's so valuable," said Zhang. "The limo owners are all my friends and came voluntarily." Zhang said he will charge 100,000 yuan ($14,646) per breeding session with his dog and has hired four men to care for it.
