Should prostitutes be deprived of dignity???

Zhengzhou, provincial capital of China's central He Nan Province, recently launched a "hurricane" crackdown on prostitution. All the prostitutes nabbed on the spot must have their photos, almost nude, taken and widely publicized online. This immediately aroused a hot debate among netizens centering around whether the prostitutes should be robbed of dignity as a person, even if what they do for a living is culturally defined as a shame or an illegal underworld business.

One of the photos, showing a plain-clothes policeman, or rather "no-clothes" actually, intimidating his captive to press for the truth, upset many viewers who decried that the policeman's performance was distasteful.

"To tell the truth, how many visitors did you have including this guy?"

Many tactics have been attempted to put a halt to this illicit activity, yet it continues to exist for centuries.  Robbing the people of their dignity doesn't serve any purpose and would not be considered a "fair trial" approach.  This is casting judgment on these women without rights.
The photographs that are placed on the internet also add to what is already considered a huge problem "orn".  While it is shameful to the prostitutes and their relatives and acquaintances, it give pleasure to those who seek pornography in any form it is available.  Is this to be considered "legal porn"?

Henan is China's most populous province, with nearly 100 million residents, it lacks job opportunities. For some of the women there, maybe prostitutution is not a decent job, but it do give them and their kids a living.

It is not proper for the local government and policemen to expose their nude pics on the Internet, to humiliate their families and kins. They have no right to violate their privacy, the least item of basic human rights entitled to every man and woman.

To prevent HIV/AIDS virus from spreading, Hennan law-enforcers should be more considerate, giving the sex workers more protection, such as providing them with free controceptives...

Syphilis surge in China is driven by economy

A senior Chinese public health official says the tenfold growth in the number of syphilis cases over the past decade in China has been driven by the rapid economic growth.

Chen Xiang-sheng says the sexually transmitted disease re-emerged in the 1980s after being virtually eradicated for two decades.

Chen says prostitution, worker migration from the countryside to cities and poor health care systems means cases are now increasing 30 percent a year.

Chen, the deputy director of China's National Center for Sexually Transmitted Diseases Control, says syphilis is particularly prevalent in the southeast, where the economy is booming but inequality is also the greatest.

His comments appeared Tuesday in the World Health Organization's monthly bulletin.
