Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

U.S. President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for giving the world "hope for a better future" with his work for peace and calls to reduce the global stockpile of nuclear weapons.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee praised Obama for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."

The first African-American to hold his country's highest office, Obama has called for disarmament and worked to restart the stalled Middle East peace process since taking office in January.

"Very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," the committee said in a citation.

It awarded the prize to Obama less than nine months into his presidency. Despite setting out an ambitious international agenda, he has yet to score any breakthrough on the Middle East or Iran's nuclear program, and faces difficult choices on the conduct of the war in Afghanistan.

Last month Obama chaired a historic meeting of the United Nations Security Council, which unanimously approved a U.S.-drafted resolution calling on nuclear weapons states to scrap their arsenals.

Obama is the third senior U.S. Democrat to win the prize this decade after former Vice President Al Gore won in 2007 along with the U.N. climate panel and Jimmy Carter in 2002.

The prize worth 10 million Swedish crowns ($1.4 million) will be handed over in Oslo on December 10.

"WERE IT NOT THE PRESIDENT OF THE USA"

"WERE IT NOT THE PRESIDENT OF THE USA"

1/ What peace has been summoned so far?

2/ What had been said about disarmament of nuclear arsenal; has the President delivered a single iota of disarmament of its most destructive and world largest stockpile of nuclear arsenal so far to-date?

3/ As being speculated, if every other nations loses an Olympic pick, would it be picked for Nobel Peace Prize?

4/ Is sending more warring troops to fight a distant war justifying a world renowned Peace Prize?

5/ Is the threat to sanction and war against Iran and North Korea warranting a Nobel Peace Order?
Sorry, but Hon President Obama has nothing to prove so far for its own USA and the world communities relating to warring zones where soldiers and civilians had been and are dying and suffering, properties being destroyed (*not foreclosure grades*) as we write, economic woes seem to run out of control and the rapid decline of the buck, USD.
Moreover, The President with EU's echoing, is causing and drumming up more stormy weathers in trades with its largest partner and financial lender, China.

All, are these the equivalence of an international Peace Prize?

As a matter of sensational fact, Hon President Obama should voluntarily, graciously and smartly turn down that 'mock-up' Nobel Peace Prize till he, The President, comes up one day to prove his worded and promised credentials. If only HE had done so, to this end, HE could and would have achieved a greater milestone in history of a being the 1st_black President and the 1st President of the USA to turn down a Nobel Peace Prize in circumstances. One thinks HE had made the 1st_biggest mistake for HE is now burdened with this mock_up prize in his head to force many issues over the board, even if it means unnecessary sacrifices at home and abroad.  Don't YOU think so?

Why didn't HE just walk the line, focus to rebuild US'e economy and bring all HIS soldiers home to their families to reunion?

IF China is a part of NATO, then the possibility of a credible Nobel Peace Prize ought to be honored upon President Hu of China for HIS years of diplomatic drives around the globe almost in every corner of the world for Peace and Harmony ought to earn HIM a better than Nobel Peace Prize. By head count alone, just the developments in China are justified for a Nobel Prize, if it is of any good other than some Swiss Francs!

In plain truth lingo, all these prizes are so fake at times, it seems so!
